This document follows the format of a lab protocol: each item is a numbered, recorded and reviewable step describing how Cortex Jogos Web handles (or doesn't handle) personal data, in line with applicable U.S. federal and state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), similar state privacy laws, and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
1.0 — Protocol owner

1.1 — Privacy contact: same email address, subject line "Privacy". This is the channel between you and the protocol owner. If you are not satisfied, you can also contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov, or your state Attorney General's office.
2.0 — Samples collected
- 2.1 — There is no sign-up. No identifying data (name, email, phone) is collected just so you can play.
- 2.2 — Best scores and preferences are recorded in your own browser's local storage. None of it ever reaches us.
- 2.3 — If you write to us by email, we handle only what you send us yourself, solely to reply. There is no form on the site; the email link opens your own mail app directly.
3.0 — Experimental state log ("Game state")
Beyond item 2.2, the site may record, via localStorage and sessionStorage, the progress of a game in progress (for example, the position of the discs in Towers of Hanoi or the guesses already made in Mastermind). This recording only runs if you turn on the opt-in "Game state" category; the factory default is off, and in that state every game always restarts from scratch. No sample leaves your device for a server of ours or of any third party. To wipe the log, turn off "Game state" under "Cookie preferences" or clear the site's data in your browser.
4.0 — Methodological justification (why each item is stored)
- 4.1 Your consent: supports item 3.0, optional.
- 4.2 Technical necessity: supports the technical storage essential to keeping the site working.
- 4.3 Steps taken at your request: supports item 2.3, when you write to us.
5.0 — Sharing of results
Protocol result: no sample is sold, shared or passed on to third parties. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA, and no personal data crosses a border in an international transfer initiated by us. Cortex Jogos Web runs no advertising and no analytics partner. Cookie details in step 6.0 and in the Cookie Policy.
6.0 — Browser reagents (cookies)
Necessary cookies run for basic operation. The only optional reagent, "Game state" (item 3.0), comes off by default and is only turned on with your explicit acceptance. Accept all, reject all or choose by category, and reconfigure whenever you like via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.
7.0 — Rights of the research subject
At any time, you may request:
- confirmation of whether we process any of your personal data;
- access to the data (the right to know);
- correction of incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data;
- deletion of data that is unnecessary, excessive or handled in violation of the law;
- portability to another service provider;
- deletion of data handled with your consent;
- information about whom we share data with;
- information about the option not to consent and its consequences;
- withdrawal of consent and opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither).
To request any item, write to [email protected]. We respond within 45 days, as the CCPA allows (extendable once by 45 days with notice), and we will never treat you differently for exercising these rights. A formal complaint can also go directly to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov, or to your state Attorney General's office.
8.0 — Protocol for participants under 13
General audience, with no collection of identifying data from anyone — including children under 13, in line with COPPA. There is no age-segmented content and no minimum age requirement to play: the site is free, with no betting and no prizes. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, no parental consent is needed; if you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information by email, write to us and we will delete it.
9.0 — Security and disposal of samples
With no user database, there is no sign-up at risk of a breach. Best scores live on your device and you control their disposal yourself, by clearing the site's data in your browser. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to reply.
10.0 — Signals picked up from the instrument
When present, we honor the "Do Not Track" and "Global Privacy Control" signals sent by your browser, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information, so they keep being respected as the site evolves.
11.0 — Protocol revision
Advertising, an analytics tool or a new cookie category: any of those changes updates this page the same day, spelling out the category of data involved. The date at the top marks the current version of the protocol.
